Ibsen & Strindberg in rep at TFANA

Henrik Ibsen hung this portrait of August Strindberg (painted by Christian Krohg) on the wall of his study, saying, “He is my mortal enemy and shall hang there and watch while I write.”  And Strindberg once said that his battle against Ibsen “cost [him his] wife, children, fortune and career.”

Theatre for a New Audience presents Ibsen’s A Doll’s House alongside Strindberg’s The Father in rotating rep performed by a single company this spring.  It features an artistic team of longtime collaborators including Arin Arbus (director), Riccardo Hernandez (scenic design) and Susan Hilferty (costume design).
